Koman Lake is an artificial lake formed by the hydropower dam built-in 1979 by the communist regime. It is built in the valley of the longest river in Albania, Drin River. Hike to the Montenegro border
Leave the guesthouse and start hiking to the upper valley at the hamlet of Kukaj. From there start ascending to the meadows below Rosi mountain. In June this is a paradise for botanists. Endemic species including Gentiana, Orchids, etc are to be found here. The trek continues to the 18th pyramid(2000m alt) that marks the border between Albania and Montenegro. At this point the view over Montenegro is stunning. Start descending on the way back to Valbona village. The total trek is approx. 7 hours.
